Recently I wanted to convert the site to use the Friendly URL's option in the configuration area. My VPS already had Mod_Rewrite implemented, so I added the following to my .htaccess:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
## Enable mod_rewrite if available
Options +FollowSymLinks -Multiviews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
## Rewrite queries with keywords to be without '?'...
